Assignments Week Nine

Monday March 3
Reading: Jane Jacobs, The Death and Life of Great American Cities
Writing: Ideas Draft--please write a paragraph describing your intention/approach in the program notes, and then draw up some of your ideas for the program notes, making reference to the various *outside* research material, as you use it. Remember to force yourself to try and focus on musical details--in other words, you may want to talk about a song in general, but remember that you are supposed to deal with and analyze "salient" details of the music/musical "text."
**Remember to bring sample program notes, if you can!

Wednesday March 5
Reading: Jane Jacobs, The Death and Life of Great American Cities
Writing: Email me Julia Lupton's challenge #1 (take a photo of some urban/suburban thing (attach in email) and write a caption for it, using some concept/idea that you find interesting in the Jane Jacobs reading). keep on keeping on.

Friday March 7
Reading: HCC Writer's Guide, chapter on "Analyzing Design"
Writing: Working Draft Essay #6 (bring 3 copies)
***Group "Design" Presentation (the final one!!)
